Left at Albuquerque
I rode with someone new during my training ride yesterday, a kickass local photographer who told me about how he and his wife had done a 180 on their lives a few years ago. Said “screw The Man.” Set off to pursue their respective passions. Live their passions.
Life is great when you can murmur an inner “fuck yeah,” isn’t it?
Every Saturday morning during my childhood, Looney Tunes was a TV staple. Bugs Bunny and Elmer J. Fudd in a never-ending kill da wabbit saga. And I’ll never forget the “I shoulda taken a left at Albuquerque” episode.
Today’s post is brief, but I’m sick of people who think they’re Bugs Bunny. Shoulda.
Shoulda can go fuck itself right and proper. Shoulda needs to get out of your house, your life, your vocabulary.
While it’s funny when Bugs seems lost after tunneling through America at breakneck speed (and I have no bloody idea how he even knew he turned RIGHT at Albuquerque if he was underground – the suspension of disbelief, I suppose), it’s really not funny for us.
Do yourself a favor today – go grab something by the cajones. Do something that you shoulda done. There’s something entirely liberating about taking a leap of faith. I’m almost four years past mine (look left, look right – yeah – I like it) and I love every one of my OSM!s. I actively pursue finding MORE OS!Ms. And I never think that I shoulda taken the left at Albuquerque. I just take it.
Have a kickass weekend.
