The Redhead Double Dog Dares You…
Yeah, I said it: I DARE YOU! I will even be so brazen as to say that I double dog dare you (oh no I di-int…).
Ohhhhh, yes I did.
I dare you to give.
Earlier this year, I was introduced to the Morgan Adams Foundation. Jim Thomas, a local corporate attorney and Twitter connection, pinged me about an event the foundation was hosting called ARTMA. It’s a biannual event of epic proportions, silent and live art auctions that benefit the foundation’s goal to raise money to fund pediatric cancer research. A few weeks later, I met the foundation’s co-founder, Joan Slaughter, and over f-bombs and salad, I’m delighted to say a friendship was born and I continued even further on my journey learning about their organization and pediatric cancer.
(Where’s the dare, Erika) I’m getting there. Hold your pants.
Today is Colorado Gives Day. What that means is that nonprofit organizations registered though GivingFirst in Colorado will receive matching gifts from sponsor organizations for every donation made to them today. It also means that 100% of all donations made today will directly benefit the receiving organization.
I dare you to to give some very sick kids hope today and help me raise AT LEAST as much money as I’ve donated this morning: $250. (my receipt is here – click on the link when you get to the new page to view)
You see, instead of sending all of my clients holiday gifts this year, I’ve done something different. I’ve donated to the Morgan Adams Foundation and will be sending a thank you note to all of my clients for making that possible. I’ve also donated a year of my services to the foundation, because I believe in great organizations that need to have their message heard.
Today, you can give as little as $1 or as much as you’d like. Today, it means more than anything. This Friday, I turn 38, and I think about kids who are looking forward to making it to 8. The decision to donate wasn’t a hard one.
How to Give
- Visit the Morgan Adams Foundation page at Giving First.
- Select Donate Now.
It’s that simple. You’ll be guided through a short account creation process and at the end, you’ll even be able to print your tax deductible receipt.
It’s not often that you can give a gift to a nonprofit organization that gets even bigger AFTER you’ve given it. So I dare you. I have thousands of followers on Twitter and over 2500 Facebook Fans. Can each of you donate $1 today that will give a kid with cancer hope? During the holidays, we get pretty wrapped-up in our own needs. Today, you can take 5 minutes out of your day and make a difference in a kid’s life.
What would you do if you were faced with the fact that someone you love had the fight of their lives ahead of them to see their next birthday?
I recently faced that realization.
That’s why my birthday gift to myself this year (albeit, two days early) is a donation to the Morgan Adams Foundation. Because I understand WHY they do what they do. That’s why RedheadWriting is donating twelve months of marketing, strategy, social media and promotion services to the Morgan Adams Foundation. Because I want even MORE people to understand why they do what they do.
Join me. I double dog dare you to give $1.
PS: And do a great organization a solid – here’s how to connect with them online (and while I’m just coming on board, you’ll be seeing GREAT things from them in the coming year!).
- stop by the Morgan Adams Foundation Facebook page
- follow them on Twitter
- stop by and tell them that RedheadWriting asked you to say hello!
